Two cyclones in a week
Murasu follows Cyclone Arnab, which hit the Andhra Pradesh coast and Odisha on 28 October with winds of up to 150 kmph and left heavy damage in coastal districts. Odisha's death toll from Arnab had risen to six, according to reports on 2 November. With soil already saturated and reservoirs full, a second round of heavy rain raises the risk of flooding and waterlogging even from a weaker storm.
What Murasu means
Murasu is a Tamil word for a war drum. It was contributed by India to the list of names used for cyclones in the north Indian Ocean, which countries in the region take turns to supply.
