Why BharatBeat

BharatBeat is an independent home for long-form political analysis on India. The premise is simple: most political writing treats India as a single national story. The reality is twenty-eight different stories, plus the union territories, each with its own coalitions, caste arithmetic, and economic pressures.

So this site is organized the way Indian politics actually works, by state. Every essay is filed under the state it's about. The India hub is a directory of all 28 states and 8 union territories, grouped by region.

Editorial approach

• Slow, not breaking. Essays, not hot takes. One per state at a time.
• Sourced, not sneered. Citations to ECI data, CSDS-Lokniti surveys, and primary documents where possible.
• State first, party second. The same party looks different in Bihar than it does in Karnataka, so we resist the national-narrative flattening.
