Xiaomi launched the Redmi 17C 5G in India on 1 October 2026 at Rs 20,999, with a 6.9-inch 120Hz display, a 6,000mAh battery, IP64 protection and the Dimensity 6300 chip. But it costs far more than the Redmi 15C 5G did. Here are the specs, prices, and whether it is worth buying.
Redmi's C series has long been the go-to for buyers who want a big screen and a big battery for little money. The new Redmi 17C 5G, launched in India on 1 October 2026, keeps the big screen and battery, but not the low price. At Rs 20,999, it costs about 68 percent more than the Redmi 15C 5G did. Here is what you get, and whether it is worth it.
The 60-second version
- Price: Rs 20,999 (4GB + 128GB) and Rs 22,999 (6GB + 128GB).

The good
- Battery life. A 6,000mAh battery should comfortably last a full day or more, and Xiaomi claims it keeps at least 80 percent capacity after 1,000 charge cycles.
- Big, smooth screen. A 6.9-inch display at 120Hz is great for videos and scrolling.
- IP64. Protection against dust and splashes is a welcome addition in this segment.
- Headphone jack. Still useful for many buyers.
The not-so-good
- The price jump. At Rs 20,999, the 17C is no longer an ultra-budget phone. The Redmi 15C 5G launched at Rs 12,499.
- Older chip. The 17C uses the Dimensity 6300, while its predecessor had the newer Dimensity 6400.
- HD+ resolution. A 720p panel on a 6.9-inch screen looks soft at this price.
- Fewer memory options. There is no 8GB variant.
Should you buy it?
The Redmi 17C 5G makes sense if you want long battery life, a big screen, and a phone that can survive dust and splashes, from a brand with a wide service network.
But at over Rs 20,000, it competes with phones offering AMOLED displays, faster chips and better cameras. If you can stretch your budget or wait for a sale, compare options carefully before buying.
