Yashasvi Jaiswal was unbeaten on 155 off 162 balls for India A on Day 4 of the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A in Christchurch, NDTV Sports reported on 3 November 2026. The match ended in a draw. The strike rate on that 155 was 95.67. He hit 15 fours and five sixes.

It had him unbeaten on 154 by Tea, called it his 18th First-Class century, and said he completed 5,000 First-Class runs during the match, with his average above 53 after 101 innings. The Express said he is 24.
The timing is the point of the knock. India's two-match Test series against New Zealand begins at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on 19 November, the Express reported. The hundred arrived after a run of low scores that both papers spent most of their copy on.
The 60-second version
- The close: 155 not out off 162 balls, strike rate 95.67, 15 fours and five sixes. NDTV Sports, 3 November 2026. Second unofficial Test, India A vs New Zealand A, Christchurch. Draw.
- At Tea: The Indian Express had 154 not out, with 15 fours and five sixes at the break. Hundred off 119 balls. 150 in another 25 balls.
- The shot: NDTV said the hundred was a six off Dean Foxcroft over cow corner, then a flying kiss to the dugout. The Express said he was on 99 and got there with a slog-swept six over mid-wicket.
- The hole he was batting out of: New Zealand A 424, a 78-run first-innings lead, Matthew Boyle a century, Dean Foxcroft 93. India A resumed Day 4 at 32/0, still 46 behind, Jaiswal 20 overnight. NDTV.

Two reports, one innings
The papers agree on the shape of the day and split on the last run, because they stopped the clock at different moments.

NDTV did not print a ball count for the hundred. The Express did not print a strike rate, or a score past Tea. Read together, the Express score is the Tea score and the NDTV score is the close. The handshake both describe, after Rathod's century and after Tea, is the end of the match in NDTV's account.
The two descriptions of the hundred itself are also both on the page. NDTV names the bowler, Dean Foxcroft, the area, cow corner, and the celebration, a flying kiss toward the India dugout. The Express gives the score on the previous ball, 99, the shot, a slog-swept six over mid-wicket, and the count, 119 deliveries. Each line stays with the paper that printed it.
How Day 4 was played
India A resumed the second innings at 32/0, still 46 runs behind, with Jaiswal 20 not out overnight, NDTV reported. New Zealand A had been bowled out for 424.
The Express picks up the morning from there. He resumed on that overnight 20 and went on to the 18th First-Class century. Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal fell off successive deliveries. The stand that followed was a third-wicket partnership with Yash Rathod. Play began 100 minutes late because of the weather.
From 99, the Express said, the hundred was the slog-swept six, 119 balls, and 150 came 25 deliveries later. By Tea he was 154 not out. In the session after lunch, India A collected 237 runs. The lead was 191 before the final session of Day 4.
The players shook hands shortly after Tea, once Rathod reached his 12th First-Class century in 122 balls, the Express reported. NDTV's line is the same event from the result: both teams shook hands after Rathod's century, moments after Tea, and the unofficial Test was a draw.
The first innings India A were answering
NDTV's account of the hole is a 78-run one.
New Zealand A had a 78-run first-innings lead. The 424 owed a lot to a century from Matthew Boyle and 93 from Dean Foxcroft. NDTV said India A's bowlers kept that deficit within reach. Mukesh Kumar took 5/87. Mohammed Siraj took 4/118. Washington Sundar took the remaining wicket.
The Day 4 start sits on those figures. A 78-run lead, a resume at 32/0, and 46 still to get level are the three numbers NDTV printed. NDTV said the second-innings hundred put India A firmly in control after the visitors had conceded that first-innings lead. India A are the visitors in that sentence.
NDTV places the 0 in this match. In the first innings of this unofficial Test, Jaiswal was lbw to Fraser Sheat for a four-ball duck. The 155 is the second innings.
5,000 First-Class runs
The Express is the paper that put a career number on the knock.
During the match he completed 5,000 First-Class runs. The average was holding above 53 after 101 innings. The hundred was his 18th in the format. The Express called him a 24-year-old.
The 5,000, the average, the innings count and the 18th First-Class century are the Express, updated at 8:37 AM IST on 3 November.
The scores that made a hundred news
Both papers frame the 155 as a break in a lean stretch. They use different windows.
NDTV, since the Afghanistan ODI hundred in June. He had made 160 runs in eight innings, with two ducks, before this knock. The previous three innings were 17, 5 and 0. The 0, as above, was the Fraser Sheat lbw in the first innings in Christchurch.
The Indian Express, the red-ball run into this week. He had not made a red-ball fifty since August. In the previous four-day game against New Zealand A last week, he scored 17 and 5. Opening for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy season opener against Chandigarh, at home, earlier this month, he was out for a 13-ball duck.
The Indian Express, since the Sri Lanka tour. Four ducks in nine successive innings. In the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, a duck in the second innings. 77 runs across three innings of that drawn series. Before that Test, a duck in the practice game against the SLC XI. The Express's word for that practice dismissal was a blob.
The June window (160 runs, eight innings, two ducks) is NDTV. The Sri Lanka window (four ducks in nine successive innings, 77 runs in the drawn series) is the Express. They are printed as separate counts. This piece does not add them into a new tally.
Where that leaves the New Zealand tour
The Express tied the form worry to a date. The two-match Test series against New Zealand begins at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on 19 November.
Before that, the one-day series starts without him. He made India's ODI squad against the West Indies and was benched for all three matches. He was omitted from the ODI side for the five-match series against New Zealand, starting on 4 November in Auckland, the Express reported.
NDTV's forward line is shorter. It called the century a reminder of his quality ahead of India's two-Test series against New Zealand later this month, after the 17, 5 and 0.
No report read here publishes a Test XI, a batting order, or a sentence from Jaiswal. The selection fact on the page is the ODI one: in the squad and unused against the West Indies, omitted for the New Zealand ODIs.
What to watch next
- Wellington, 19 November. The Express set the two-Test series at the Basin Reserve and treated the red-ball drought, no fifty since August, as the worry this hundred answers. The next evidence is the Test, not a further India A day. This one has already been drawn.
- Auckland, 4 November. The five-match ODI series starts then, and the Express said he is omitted. The white-ball tour and the Test tour are on different squad lists in that report.
- The last run of the 155. NDTV's close is 155 off 162. The Express stops at 154 not out by Tea, with 15 fours and five sixes already on the board at the break. A full scorecard would show whether the extra run came after Tea, before the handshake.
- Rathod's hundred. The Express has it as a 12th First-Class century off 122 balls, in the third-wicket stand that began after Sudharsan and Padikkal fell off successive balls. NDTV has the handshake following that century.
- The two duck counts already in print. NDTV's is two ducks and 160 runs in eight innings since the June ODI hundred against Afghanistan, then this 155. The Express's red-ball list runs through Galle, the SLC XI practice, the Chandigarh Ranji duck, 17 and 5 against New Zealand A, and the Sheat duck that NDTV recorded in the first innings here.
Jaiswal's Christchurch hundred closed, in NDTV's numbers, at 155 off 162 at a strike rate of 95.67, in a match NDTV called a draw. In the Express account it is also a First-Class milestone: 5,000 runs and an 18th century, ahead of the Test at the Basin Reserve on 19 November.
This explainer is drawn from NDTV Sports on 3 November 2026 (155 not out off 162, strike rate 95.67, 15 fours and five sixes, the draw, the Foxcroft six over cow corner and the flying kiss, scores of 17, 5 and 0, the Fraser Sheat four-ball lbw, 160 runs in eight innings with two ducks since the June ODI century against Afghanistan, India A resuming at 32/0 and 46 behind, New Zealand A 424, Matthew Boyle's century, Dean Foxcroft's 93, Mukesh Kumar 5/87, Mohammed Siraj 4/118, Washington Sundar's wicket, and the handshake after Yash Rathod's century) and from The Indian Express, updated at 8:37 AM IST on 3 November 2026 (154 not out by Tea, 18th First-Class century, 119 balls, 150 in another 25 balls, 15 fours and five sixes at the break, 237 after lunch, a lead of 191, the weather delay of 100 minutes, Sudharsan and Padikkal, Rathod's 12th First-Class century off 122 balls, 5,000 First-Class runs at an average above 53 after 101 innings, the Basin Reserve Tests on 19 November, no red-ball fifty since August, 17 and 5, the Chandigarh duck, the Sri Lanka ducks and 77 runs, the West Indies bench, and the omission from the Auckland ODIs starting 4 November). The Tea score and the close score are both printed above because the two papers stopped at different moments.
